Encomium 2020

Our Story

Our Story

“Encomium” means praise or tribute. Encomium 2020 was founded to celebrate and uplift the dignity and potential of every human being. We acknowledge the reality that many underprivileged communities in Uganda remain trapped in cycles of poverty because their energy is spent on survival—meeting basic needs—leaving little room to focus on education, growth, or sustainable development.

Our mission is to break this cycle by enabling individuals and communities to first secure their fundamental needs— education, healthcare, clean water, and food security—so they can begin to build sustainable, resilient lives and contribute meaningfully to the prosperity of their communities. We do this through targeted, community-driven initiatives in four key sectors: education, health, water and sanitation, and agriculture. These are the building blocks for long-term community transformation.

Our Vision

We envision a society where no one is held back by poverty, where every person can rise beyond survival into a life of dignity, potential, and prosperity, and contribute to thriving, resilient communities. We leverage participatory, transparent, accountable and community-demand-driven approaches to address the multidimensional poverty and confront the various deprivations of poor health, lack of education, inadequate living standards and disempowerment. No matter how far deep a situation is taxing, we are always committed to offer the support and empathy our communities need to access the appropriate groundwork and push everyone’s dream through the right direction.

We welcome partners, donors, and collaborators who share our commitment to social justice, empowerment, and sustainable change. Whether through funding, technical expertise, or collaborative programming, your support helps us expand our reach and deepen our impact.
